Product Selection Guide

The team at Marktech understands first-hand the vital importance of knowing the required proper wavelengths for a given application, and how vital that data is to the proper matching of LED emitters and detectors.

With that in mind, we are pleased to present this Marktech Spectrum Selector Guide, a general reference product selection guide, to further assist our customers in making those important determinations.

Whether you are simply using an LED as a visible light source (such as on a VMS sign) or detecting the chemical properties of various materials, it is vital to understand which specified wavelengths are best for your application. Marktech, with more that 35 years of experience in the design, manufacture and testing of optoelectronics components and assemblies, can help to make the specification process a bit simpler.

The Marktech product selection guide is organized by spectral range, beginning with the 265 nm ultraviolet (UV) range, up through the 2600 nm shortwave infrared (SWIR) range. There are three main general product categories: Photodetectors, Emitters and High-Brightness LEDs. Marktech organizes its product groups by wavelengths under each category.

By simply clicking on each button on either side of the spectrum, a listing of all corresponding available standard products matching these wavelengths will appear. In addition, next to each part number, we have attached a copy of the latest product specification sheet and a link (if applicable) to the Digi-Key Electronics website, to assist you in obtaining product samples.  For additional applications engineering assistance, please contact our Latham, New York-based R&D center.

UV Emitters

Marktech continues to expand its line of Ultra Violet Emitters to its product line. Our devices include lower wavelengths beginning at 280nm and running up to 420nm. These emitters are available in a large assortment of metal cans, plastic and service mount packages as well as custom assemblies (see our Customization section) and materials (see our material section) to match application requirements. UV Emitters are widely used in sensing applications, which include airport identification and inspection equipment, currency validation, and medical sensing. Additional applications include sanitation and water purification for UV-C type emitters.

Visible Emitters

Marktech offers three series of high reliability metal can packages and plastic emitters all in the visible range. These include Hermetic cans that incorporate Cree's robust LED die. Our "Cree in a Can" devices combine Cree's highly efficient InGaN materials with proprietary substrates to deliver superior performance for high intensity LEDs. This series includes TO-5, TO-18 and TO-39 packages on flat or domed lenses. Marktech's manufactured line of metal cans highlight our precise centering capabilities within each package, which is a key component to critical illumination, machine vision, and scanning applications. Marktech can also customize our emitters to your specific needs including wavelengths and power output.

Near IR Emitters

Marktech specializes in customizing components and assemblies for your specific application. Our near IR chips are interchangeable with multiple packages and can be tested for any optical and/or electrical parameter to fit your needs.

Our 870nm and 940nm near IR emitters top the most popular LED products list, but Marktech offers a full assortment of near IR wavelengths in numerous package types. And because we manufacture wafers at our own U.S. facilities, we can ensure Marktech's products are of the highest quality and reliability.

Point Source Emitters

Marktech's Point Source Emitters are powered by a unique LED chip that produces a well-defined pattern of light similar to a "point". These chips in combination with high quality grade glass lenses produce an extremely narrow, near parallel radiation pattern. This unobstructed, radiated beam pattern is made possible by producing a unique defined active area and relocating the topside electrode. By eliminating the "dark spot" typically associated with the center of conventional LEDs, the point source LED yields superior results in critical sensing applications. Our Point Source Emitters are available in TO-18, TO-46 and PLCC-4 packages.

SWIR Emitters

Marktech is one of a few limited manufacturers who supply emitters in the extended wavelength or SWIR (Short Wavelength Infrared) range. Our standard product offering includes both through-hole and surface mount packages with wavelengths from 1020nm - 1720nm and operating currents ranging from 20mA to 350mA for high power applications. Higher wavelength ranges up to 3000nm are available in specific package types. If something above 3000nm is required which is more in the MWIR (Mid Wavelength Infrared) range, Marktech is happy to work with you to develop a custom wafer / die that meets your specific application.

Multi-Wavelength Emitters

Our Multi-Wavelength Emitters come in a variety of packages including TO-18, PLCC, TO-5 and surface mount. These devices hold anywhere from 2 to 7 die and are available in our selected standard chips (UV through SWIR Short Wave Infrared and can also be combined with detector chips ) and can be modified to the customer's specification which includes power and wavelength sorting.
