Marktech’s series of SWIR and MWIR LEDs are available in a variety of package types such as ATLAS hermetic SMD, metal hermetic TO-cans, conventional surface mount device (SMD), plastic molded through-hole, chip scale packaging (CSP), chip-on-board (COB), starboards, linear boards, and custom packaging designed to meet specific OEM requirements. These short and mid-wave IR emitter devices achieve optimal performance for gas monitoring, moisture sensing, medical diagnostics, flame detection, chemical analysis, fiber optical communication, military, optical switching, and material sorting. The SWIR spectral range is also known as the Extended NIR or NIR II (NIR2).

The SWIR wavelength range also requires specialized optical detectors, as standard silicon detectors have a maximum sensitivity limit of approximately 1100nm. Marktech produces a line of 1.7µm and 2.6 µm InGaAs detectors optimized for sensing light in the SWIR wavelength range. Marktech’s SWIR LEDs satisfy a growing need for high-speed light emission in ranges not easily seen by standard detectors.
These detectors can be obtained as individual discrete components or combined with a silicon sensor to cover the complete spectrum of light from the visible to the SWIR range. Marktech also offers the option to produce multi-element devices with emitter and detector chips in the same package.
SWIR light is at the boundary between visible and thermal imaging, and this spectral range has unique properties. As a result, the market for SWIR devices is increasing. They are being used in a variety of applications, including produce inspection, security, surveillance, anti-counterfeiting, and biomedical.
