The series’ low-profile design facilitates easy integration with lenses or reflectors for varied light distribution, offering color options in amber, red, and white and viewing angles ranging from 60 to 120 degrees. This allows for precise color matching in diverse settings—from dynamic architectural lighting and high-visibility outdoor displays to clear, high-resolution indoor signage. The P4 series shines with robust luminance of 5500 to 8000 mcd, operates at a consistent current for reliable performance, and has a standardized footprint of 7.6 mm x 7.6 mm for seamless integration into various systems, making it ideal for automotive lighting, roadway signage, or setting the perfect ambiance in amusement parks, thereby establishing itself as a superior choice for a wide range of lighting applications.
The Cree LED P-4 package design allows lighting designers to reduce the number of necessary LEDs while providing a more uniform and unique illuminated appearance compared to other LED solutions. This is possible through the efficient P-4 optical-package design, high current capabilities, and improved thermal dissipation. Cree P-4 LEDs are made with advanced optical-grade epoxy, offering superior performance in high-temperature and high-moisture environments. The encapsulation resin contains anti-UV material to reduce the effects of long-term exposure to direct sunlight.
The low-profile P-4 package can easily be coupled with reflectors or lenses to distribute light and efficiently provide the desired lit appearance. With viewing angles ranging from 60 to 120 degrees and available in red, green, blue, and white LED materials, P-4 devices allow designers to match the color of various lighting applications.
CREE LED’s P4 series offers a variety of through-hole LEDs in amber, red, and white colors, with each color available from different viewing angles. The amber and red LEDs have dominant wavelengths ranging from 584 to 637 nm, signifying the peak emission within the visible spectrum. These come in three viewing angles: 40°, 70°, and 100°, providing options for directed or dispersed lighting solutions. The white LEDs are presented with two viewing angles of 60° and 90°, catering to applications requiring a broad light spread.
The color temperature for CREE LED’s P4 white LEDs is specified to be between 4600K and 10000K, indicating a range from excellent to bright daylight hues. All LEDs in the P4 series are designed with a binning current of 0.07 A for the colored LEDs and 0.03 A for the white ones, ensuring consistency in light output across the units. The maximum permissible current for these LEDs is also uniform at 0.07 A for the colored LEDs and slightly less at 0.035 A for the white LEDs, which ensures longevity and reliability. Luminous intensity values vary, showcasing the brightness potential, with amber LEDs ranging from 6200 to 8000 mcd, red LEDs from 5500 to 8000 mcd, and white LEDs at 7000 mcd. The footprint for all the LEDs in this series is consistent at 7.6 mm by 7.6 mm, indicating a standardized size for ease of design and integration into various applications.
These specifications indicate the P4 series’ adaptability and suitability for various applications requiring high brightness and reliability.
Spectral sensitivity from 254nm to 2600nm depending on specific InGaAs and silicon photodiodes placed in the same package.
